I know the 650 single carb and dual carb heads are different. Is this true for the 500s?

Can you put a single carb manifold on a daytona head?

My parts book gives different part #'s for the twin vs single carb heads. Unless the Daytona had a higher compression head, and the same casting was used for both, it looks like you're going to have to change the head. Check with a Triumph specialist to be sure; maybe there's an aftermarket manifold for it??

My parts book is a 1970 vintage: Jim

I'm running a single carb on my daytona. Picked the manifold up at a swap meet.

Yes, you can put the "C" manifold on an "R" head. Unlike the head on a 650, the 500's didn't have spade ports.

Of coarse, you'll need a manifold and throttle off a "C", since you're going to a single carb.

The Daytona/"R" head has different valves than the "C" version, hence the different part numbers.

Thanks for the info, Deke. I knew they sure looked like they'd be the same casting.

Best Regards: Jim

No need to worry about the throttle. I don't have one of those yet. It is still just the engine a frame with a hardtail bolt on. well most of the engine.

I guess I should be able to pick up a manifold cheaper than a second carb.

After 1967 the T100R and T100C heads were inter-changeable. The difference was the T100C had cast iron guides and thr Daytona had bronze guides. The valves were the same on both models.

But then in 1969 they went onto a new head with wider port centers(E6966 T100R&T, E10277 T100C & E9507 T100S). The single carb manifold from the T100C will fit the T100T & R heads for 1969 onwards.
