Question Tank badges for 68 T100 ?

for the purists, look away now
I have a 68 T100P which I'm 3 months into a full resto, on the tank at the moment are the correct badges for the year, trouble is I prefer the earlier mouth organ type
question is..... are the hole centres the same for both and is it possible to fit the earlier badges should I decide to, without any alterations

thanks

dunno about the holes.

I assume that the curve of the tank is the same?

Some people on here have used silicone to stick badges on. If you cut some screws down to suit, no one will be any the wiser

Ideally you need to get a set to try. there was a thread on here or Britbike in the last few days mentioning the distance between holes

My guess is that it will fit.

My '78 came with '68 tank badges and they do look better, imho.

Have'nt run into a purist on the road yet!

listed as 4.5 inch centres

not suggesting that you buy these but it's a reference

it may be worth going to Big D cycles and finding the parts book.

Identify the tank, then see what other bikes had it, and see what their badges are?

Until I got the right tank, I was running a '68 (approx) tank on my '59 with mouth organ badges. The holes did NOT line up. I used the rearmost hole, a dob of silicone and a shortened screw. Worked for me.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Neil.
PS: I forgot, the curvature of the tank is not right either. I used body filler and paint. Looked good until you took the badges off then the bodge was revealed.

Hi,
After measuring hole centres on my tank 4 3/4" and reading comments about tank curvature and filler, I'm thinking Ill just stick with what I have, I have so many other things to do< im not gonna get hung up on tank badges

profile gauges are cheap in DIY shops.

Ringing someone like Burton Bike bits or Tricor may allow you to find what
you're looking for -or get a trial fitting and return if not suitable?
