I have a 68 T100R that I'm building and was wondering if if the Mikunis are are the better of the 2 and if so what size, hardware needed and details of doing this swap

I just did that, but the other way around!

I took off a pair of 32mm VM Mikunis and replaced them with 930 Amals.

The miks were performance based and a pig to set and keep in tune with so many variables. The amals are much simpler and some say inferior, so it really depends on how often you want to tinker with them.

You'll need mikuni manifold stubs that bolt onto your head inlets, rubber sleeves and crimp rings to then fit the carbs. Throttle cabling is a straight fit from the Amal set up. I can post pics if you want to see how it will look.

Have had Mikuni VM30 Roundslides on my '78 Bonnie now 4 + years and have no complaints.

The kit comes with the manifold stubs which may have to be trimmed for length (mine were) and also came with radiator hose (not good) to connect.

You will need new cables to match the jap to england ferrules depending on what type of splitter or twist grip setup you have.

Bear in mind you will have two left hand carb's as they are not 'handed' like the Anals.

Best modification in my book - not for the purists.

Just replace the pink overflow hoses with clear and file off the
'Made in Japan' over the float bowl of the r/h carb!

Which kit did you use and what size jets are you running ? I'm planning on running Drag pipes n been "kinna toyn" with the IDEA ???? of flippn the head.
