A piece of aluminium of the correct thickness and size will do. It can be trimmed afterwards. Had a head done a few months ago. Not cheap but you cannot tell it has been done.

out of interest, how much did it cost to repair?

I have a cub project with a broken fin that I'd have repaired if the cost wasn't too bad.

It was a Daytona head and it was done together with seats, valves etc. plus some unrelated work. Total bill was in the region of £500. Work was done by SRM, Aberystwyth, who are not the cheapest but do a quality job.
