A piece of aluminium of the correct thickness and size will do. It can be trimmed afterwards. Had a head done a few months ago. Not cheap but you cannot tell it has been done.

out of interest, how much did it cost to repair?

I have a cub project with a broken fin that I'd have repaired if the cost wasn't too bad.

It was a Daytona head and it was done together with seats, valves etc. plus some unrelated work. Total bill was in the region of 500. Work was done by SRM, Aberystwyth, who are not the cheapest but do a quality job.
