Ok so I can hold off no longer. After watching and occasionally riding dads race bikes (7R and Triton) I'm going to get a racer for myself. At this stage its looking like a Tribsa could be a good good affordable option. I'm going for a period 3 bike as all the boys I know are P3. Anyone one.on here involved in aussie classics?

Or anyone international got a bike they would consider selling that could work if freighted over? Remember this is going to be a budget racing bike so no need to offer any manx's haha

First steps underway

Going to build a tribsa, have the major makings of a second tiger 100 engine so that's the base.
Have just sourced a BSA frame from a friend who used to race it with a triumph engine so all set up and good to go.
Found some ceriani front ends for the new build and the triton.

Any interest and ill continue to post and update build, pics etc

I'm not familiar with the rules or guidelines for the classes, but building a hybrid as a starter race bike isn't the best plan, if you ask me. If you've never raced, your first goal should be not worrying about the bike so you can get track/seat time logged.

Keep it simple and race-prep a "known quantity" bike, and you'll most likely have a better outcome.

That's just one person's opinion, but based on a 5th place championship finish as a rookie, in a field of over 20 bikes; MOSTLY because the bike never missed a beat. What I consider to be the second most important contributing factor was that I (almost) never lost focus and kept both tires on the pavement (just once in the kitty litter at Miller, but stayed upright and got straight back on the track without losing a position).

+1 for posting pix of bike builds. Title your thread appropriately, and put it in the "Member's Projects" section.

My old man is a seasoned racer and I've had a little track time on both his bikes. This is a purely recreational endeavour having a laugh with some mates enjoying the bikes. There are a couple of serious riders on big dollar bikes but there are plenty of us just having a ball.

Through the old man I know a number of rather eccentric but absolute wizards at building classic British bikes. When I get some pieces arriving I will start another thread and link it on here.

Ok been a while but finally got a Bsa frame that has been raced and well sorted out in the past by a racer I know. It came with the engine mounts he developed and they angle the tiger 100 engine forward improving weight over the front wheel and slightly lower cog. Hopefully now with a base, things will start moving a lot faster. I can't wait to get back home in a couple of weeks and have at it!

Keep the thread going mate.

There is a healthy classic racing scene here in the UK. I'm not part of it, just an enthusiast who has just rebuild a road going Bonne.
We don't get many peope building race bikes and documenting it, so I for one would be keen to see how you progress.
