OK i have done the unthinkable and acquired a 1971 650 TR6R.
Its painted in an awful midnight blue colour and definately needs removing and restoring. Looking through the books and sources it seems Pacific Blue and alaskan white would be the original colour to go for.
However im intrigued to see what colour this really is, as i see that 1972 was a similar sounding Polychromatic blue. Does anyone have a comparison of the two or at least a picture of one of each. I
've googled but i want to be 100% sure i like it before i order the paint.

This is Pacific blue and alaskan white, also used in 66. Paint came from John Chritchlow so is as close as you will get in the UK.

Take a look at the re-spray id did on my TR6R back in 2007 for some ideas. It's still looking as pristine now as when I painted it thank goodness.

I paint mine any colour i like.Amazing when someone tells me i have the correct Tiger gold paintwork when i used Fiat Uno paint.currently in Nissan gold but its been silver and then red in the last few years

Photochromatic Blue, Pacific Blue, they're that close and paints have changed so much over the years. What I did was take my old tins to a local auto paint specialist and they matched my colour up perfectly.
A tip from them if you're going for the blue & white colours is paint your tank white first then do the blue over white. You can probably see from my pics that I did my gold pinstriping with an air brush. Am very happy with the finish of the pin striping effect. Original pin striping should be black but I reckon the gold pin striping makes the paint job pop a litttle better. Good luck.
