Gearbox gear installation

I have a 1971 Bonneville T120R with a 4-speed transmission. I took off the inner gearbox cover to replace the leaf spring. A gear on the bottom shaft (layshaft?) closest to the inner gearbox cover came off. It has 30 teeth so I'm guessing it's the Layshaft Low Gear. It has a flat side with the opposite side being indented or dug out I will say. One questison is which side faces the middle of the bike? Hope this makes sense. The other question is regarding indexing. Will I have a problem with this if I have not moved anything inside of the gearbox?

Thanks,
Boc De.

Boc De,

Check this and other videos produced by "Lunmad" on YouTube.

They are invaluable.

The raised lip around the centre faces inwards.
It will need to be indexed because the quandrant has dropped

Again, thanks for the information. I found the Triumph Manual to have exactly what I needed as far as indexing. It shows exactly where everything should be and describes exactly as well. My gearbox is in great shape now. Woo Hoo!!
