73 t140 airbox hose won't fit

Always something..I'm putting this bike back together. I bought some new rubber hoses connecting the airbox to the carb inlet. When I put the hose on the carb it's 1/2-3/4 inch low. They won't line up. The outer airbox cover may be from a BSA. Maybe get BSA hoses? Any ideas? Or substitutes maybe? Thanks

Did you connect the inner air boxes to the frame properly? Here is a pic of my 73 which is proper. Notice any difference between mine and yours? Any more questions let me know.

air cleaner

You'll need airboxes from a 750 "short rod" motor (73-on). The carbs sit 1/2" lower on the 750 because the engine is shorter. On my '73 single-carb, the rubber is offset 1/2" lower than the 650. Bob
