During the engine build of my 71' 650 Bonneville I notice that the gears for the transmission are wider than the last two engines that I built.Any particular reason? They are quite a bit wider than the others.I'm not sure this is what they mean by wide ratio gears.Just wondering.

"Wide ratio" refers to bigger differences in gearing between the ratios.

On a close ratio box, the gearing difference between shifts is smaller.
