Gentlemen,

The bike in question is a '69 Bonneville - needs thorough cleaning and going through, front fender & fender stays, handlebars,
air cleaners, odds & ends & maybe more - not interested in making it a jewel, just a decent rider. Is anyone willing to divulge a good, reliable source for parts for this bike? I've found some suppliers on the web, but I'd rather go with a source others have had satisfactory dealings with.

Also, does anyone know if 69's use Wentworth hardware?

Any recommendations appreciated!

Thanks,

D9

I would expect to come across some wentworth on your bike. Most of the time you can get a 12 point socket to get it. I replaced most of the fasteners on mine with stainless.

Some good vendors would be

MAP cycles
British Only (easy online ordering here)
Baxter Cycle

All of these places are reputable. Avoid the seller listed on the sticky at the top of the forum. Just remember though there may be a cheaper taiwaniese or chinese part available you are better off buying a quality US or UK made part. Trust me on this.

I would also recommend that you get a workshop manual and parts manual. Very good diagrams and easy to find part numbers. Copies can be had on Ebay for pretty cheap.
Good luck

Just to avoid confusion, I think you mean Whitworth fasteners.

That should get you going.

As far as the Whitworth fasteners go, I've never found one on my '70. Most everything is Unified (S.A.E.) threads. There may be some Cycle Engineering Institute threads on the bike, but even those are rare. Virtually all of the bolts & nuts will take standard wrenches.

Hope this helps: Jim

I shop at Keith Moore's shop, in Anaheim, California. Very knowledgable and great prices, too.

I can't say enough good about British Only! Easy on-line shopping with accompanying "discounts". Occasionally will "throw-in" a freebee (tee shirt or such) . Also offer "used parts" if available. Will help you out wherever possible. You WILL need to purchase a "parts catalogue", however just to simplify orders and be accurate. Give 'em a try! :hammer:
