Ground does go to the rectifier but what about the other terminals?
The rectifier has 4 terminals. Two wires go to the alternator; one wire to earth and one wire to the battery negative.
If it's the original Triumph rectifier then earth is the central stud, the battery negative is the terminal below it and the alternator conections are either side.
I would highly recommend you grab a Haynes or Clymer manual as well. You will find that these bikes require a lot of care and maintenace and the $20 (or so) spent on the book will pay for itself quickly in reduced headaches and (occasionally costly) mistakes.
The books do help I just bought 1976 T140 my self. But the guy threw in the books.Ilook for word to hearing how you make out getting it running.Mine needs alot of work. rod
