Hi, folks! This is my first post here in CC&V. I've been floating around in some of the other catagories for awhile now.

I just aquired a '69 BSA Rocket 3 and will be rebuilding her this winter. Bike's all there with no dents or rust but hasn't run in 15+ years. Even came with a literally untouched factory shop manual and spare parts book! And a new set of "raygun" silencers. These bikes share a lot with the old Tridents and even (I think) the X75 Hurricane. If anyone knows any good parts sources or places to get some info particularly on engine/tranny upgrades or mods I'd appreciate it. Never could leave well enough alone. Sigh! BTW, I already know about Baxter and British Only.

It's gonna be sweet running this one down the road with the new Rocket 3. Everyone's already referring to them as the "old man and the kid"!!

There is a trident and rIII forum in another web site. They are very helpful with info [not that here is not good, just they specialise].

http://www.triplesonline.com/

Also:

Triple Cycles - Phil Pick
Tony Hayward
Norman Hyde

all good triple specialists, but all in GB, so its mail order.
Easy though, email what you want, phone with credit card details, and parts arrive in about 4-7 days.

Also call Don Hutchinson Although he is a Triumph guy he has a couple of BSA in his shop now and has done work on lots of them. If he can't help you he'll point you in the right direction. Very trustworthy, he's never steered me wrong.

I've heard, over the years, that the triples are a lot more involved to rebuild or overhaul than the twins...they aren't just a twin with one more cylinder added. Ask around and check with the specialists so you don't end up in hot water.

Just my $.02 worth: Jim

Thanks for the input! The long road begins! No doubt I'll run into other stuff and I'll keep you posted. Scratch the paint and they're all related!

Don Hutchinson's place in MA looks interesting. I'll be up there next month visiting the in-laws. Might be able to swing over and visit them.

If you ever change the mufflers, give me first crack at those ray guns, for my '74 Trident...
