found a 78' T140R 750 for sale, all stock and I belive all original with 8900 miles. Some surface rust here and there but overall seem's to be in great shape. I've only worked on a 1970-72 bonnys', is there anything specific to this model and year that I should know about? Asking price for the bike is $2500.
Thanks.

I couldn't google up a T140r, but I found this right here from Paul:

Sound like my old long gone 77T140V with dual concentric amals.

I like my 78 "E". With its 750cc's, disk brakes, turn signals and five speed, it's a great rider. I paid $4,000 for mine. It had 6,000 original miles and I bought it from the original owner.

I guess from a purist point of view, these later model OIF's aren't as attractive. But I like the ergos a little better than my 65. I got a buddy who owns two 79's and he goes everywhere with them, 700 mile rides and such. They never miss a beat.

If that milage is true, it sounds like a good buy to me.

I bought a '76 Bonnie 2 years ago for $2500 in upstate NY. Bike had similar miles. Needed a good cleaning some touch up painting on the frame and all the chrome rubbed out. Came with a Boyer iggy and the PO paid somebody to install a new wiring harness. It's a daily rider now.

Think the asking price is pretty typical for this part of the country. I've seen them advertised for more, but they seem to be for sale for a long time. There was an OIF Tiger for sale a year or so ago for $2400 that looked pretty good in the pics that was for sale for a long time. Don't know if it ever sold or the owner just gave up.

You cannot get hurt at $2500 provided you don't have to put a lot of money into it.

Mine stops very well, sounds great with a set of Dunstalls on it, handles well and gets its share of attention. Your average individual on the street knows only the name and look. OIF or not, they still get lots of waves and grins. Local Triumph shop owner has an OIF as his daily rider, and he rides pretty hard. Said he likes the handling and stopping abilities over the pre-OIF bikes.
regards,
Rob
