Ok guys here is my dilemma. The rear axle adjuster on the LH side of the bike broke while I was rolling down the driveway to go for a ride. I have no idea what would have caused this to happen and I desperately need another one so I can ride my baby. Any ideas on acquiring an axle adjuster for a 1979 t140 Bonneville?

Thanks in advance

Joe

Baxter Cycle In Marne Iowa (712) 781-2351. They also have a web site. They buy and sell old Triumph parts and bikes all over the planet. If they don't have it or can't get it it's probably made out of unobtanium!

Would it be feasable to braze the old one back together and expect satisfactory service?
Just looking for advice from some of the old hands here.

B Joe, By left side you mean drive side (chain)? If you want to braze (weld would be better) put it on the opposite side where there will be less stress on it. I believe in 79 they interchance.

I always thought that was a cheap piece. I haven't had any trouble, but they sure look flimsy. I wonder if they made a more durable one that would work, in prior years. Anyone know? Best of luck.

My 79 Bonnie had thick (1/8") adjusters, most I've seen were thinner. The thick ones have to be out there, look around and make sure you ask for the thick ones. Yours probably broke from years of someone over-tightening the adjuster bolts. :???:
