Head Steadies on OIF Bonny?

I've been looking at a friend's 69 Bonnie. His has head steadies. Mine is a '72 OIF Bonnie 650 and I see no place for head steadies. I presume that none go on the OIF models so that the frame doesn't get vibrated too much and crack. Am I right or is my bike supposed to have steadies?

Thanks,

Bob

Can you tell me more? I don't see where they are supposed to locate on the frame and they don't appear in the parts book. Thanks for the help.

On an OIF bike the steady runs from the stud sticking out of each rocker box back to a small box welded to the underside of the backbone frame tube, directly above the g/b. The steady is a single black piece of steel, approx size is 3/16 thk x 1 wide x 10 inches long. It has 3 holes in it; 1 for each rocker box stud and 1 for the frame mount. The box affair on the frame houses a nut for the bolt to run up into.

My 1980 AV has the engine mounting from a triumph car as the head steady but NO engine mounts running from crankcases to the downtube. A metalastic bock is used on each side of the crankcases running from the lower rails. Terrible system and the end was inevitable.

a triumph CAR?

they parted company in the 30's - is that a bodge that someone's added? The AV's are supposed to be really good. I thought that they used/pinched Norton bits?
