Thinking of this Norton for purchase... Thoughts??

This bike was advertised as a 1969, but I though the last of the Norton N15s were in 1968...

Any thoughts regarding how much this is worth? His asking price is a bit high.... 3500.00

Mike...

Bike looks good ( except possibly the handlebars )
I assume price is Can $'s if so price seems ok also. But you need to listen and test ride it, test frame alignments.

Well the difference today between Can dollar and the US dollar is less than 10% Canada financial system will always try and push the Can dollar lower than the US dollar due to the trade between the two nations. (over 2 billion $ per day). 3500 USD is 3675 Can. The handlebars might go. But nothing like the Norton Commando Hi riser....

Some general info on the Matchless-framed Nortons: http://www.nortonownersclub.org/mode...id_detail.html

If it's indeed a '69, then it's most likely a P11 or Ranger. But I don't think that's it. The bike you're looking at is an N15 judging by the frame and the oil tank/side cover. That bike could be a '66 or '67. Maybe even earlier as it looks like it was converted to coils form the old magneto. Someone please correct me of I'm wrong.

Post up the numbers if you have them and we can check. Still, ask the guy if he has the original bars, seat (or even just the seat pan) and pipes/silencers for it. Those look to be the big non-original bits on it.

I paid $4,500 USD for my '64 Norton N15CS. But it was 99% original when I bought it. If that bike is well-sorted and running, $3,500 is fair. Of course, finding some bits (if you want to go back to original) can be tough.

Totally worth the effort, though. Great bikes.

You're going to love that front brake.

errr what am I to expect re the front brake?

I have a pair of mufflers for an old Atlas bike that look as if they would work. They are in rough shape, but a bit of prep work and a re-chrome will make them presentable. the seat in my opinion is better than the original, which I never liked. But as it is the only thing non original, I will ask for the original if it is available. Same goes for the bars. If I ride it and it feels ok, I will keep the bars. But If I need to find originals, is there a bar company that will make up bars to the original specs?

by 69.

Looks like you've got a '67 N15.
