wheel offset ?

hey guys how is everyone ?
why is the rear wheel offset to the drive side on my 76 bonneville ?
can i run radial tires ? i was at a bikeshop today and they said i should only run bias ply. what the ? .....anyone.

The wheel should be centered in the chassis.

You should look into Dunlop 501 GTs or Avon AM26 RoadRiders.

The wheel should be centered in the chassis.
i have read some stuff on here about wheel offsets. why would mine be offset ?

Probably incorrectly laced, or spacers installed wong in the axle setup. Is your drive chain aligned with the engine sprocket? If it's not, that's another telltale sign, and means you are eating chain & spockets every mile you drive.

Could be the rear end got whumped by a car, also...

The rear fender is not in line with the center of the bike. That sometimes gives the illusion that the rear wheel is off center?

it dose'nt have a rear fender ,and by eyeballing it it looks to be offset by about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.

I believe Pauls got it right. Are you working on a basket case and maybe just had a new wheels laced up? Have you recently split the rear hub apart? -Steve

no its not a basket case. but i should mention that it has about 5 broken spokes on the disc side. would that pull the wheel over to the drive side ?
