milestone and other stuff

Well Everyone,

Rarely do I start a new thread, and this one is just a statement
so no question here.

After a year of riding around, my ride has reached a smooth
20,000 miles. I know a lot of you have put way more miles on
your Triumphs. But I have to say for a bike that three previous
owner could not get to move past 14,086 mile without pushing,
I am pleased.

As for other stuff, I am glad to see fall time here in the States.
As most of you know, a major group of us hail from the States.
I am enjoying this fact of fall knocking on the door because it
gives the new guys and gals a bit of time to slow down and
fix their Triumphs right.

As some of you will note, I did get pissed this summer with the
I have to ride it RIGHT NOW group this summer. It is always
harder to repair a machine when you are right on top of the
problem. It really pays to take a break, take a breath, and look
at the big picture. I hope Fall and some cooler weather, cools
everyones head, mostly Mine.

But remember, I am still going to be sarcastic, just apply
if he can dish it, he can take it rule. It is OK to fire back at will.

Pookybear

It is a long winter, now go fix something.

I love "winter" here in South Texas, I get to work in a shop with below triple-digit temperatures MOST days.

Being that I have two client project bikes on the way, and three ALREADY in the shop, it's going to be a busy winter. I'll stay warm by working hard, non-stop!

I'll tell you who really loves the colder weather!!! These old air cooled vintage Triumphs. I swear mine feel like they have 10 more horsepower when the high for the day is low 60's.

Yep, they do prefer the cooler weather.

Down here in south eastern Australia, it's not quite summer but it has been stinking hot and unseasonably so and they do not appreciate it at all.

I wanted to put a few miles on my rebuilt '72 with a mate riding shotgun 'just in case' and we had to leave early and come back early to avoid the heat. It pinged a bit when it was really hot but came good after a coffee stop but later that night, when it had cooled down, it felt much stronger.

Most bikes (in fact most engines) prefer the cold, and (unfortunately for us) the wet. That's why years ago many old aircraft were fitted with water injection for "hot and high" take offs.

So I guess we should all keep riding these old things though winter!
