76 Bonnie knee pads?

I am considering tank knee pads for my 76 T140v. I see that there were a few models that did not have them but I like the look. And I knee the tank occasionally. I am guessing they glue on? I wonder if anyone has knowledge regarding preparing the finish on the tank or what glue is used. I could ask my parts source when I see him- but that will be a while.
Any comments appreciated.
Thanks

DaveDone,

Well just like a glue on bagde on painted sheet metal, a clean
wax and oil free surface is what you are after. That will be
the key to sucess.

I was considering the same. The guys at British Cycle Supply recommended the following... Apply a light coat GE Silicone 11 Household Glue (pt # GE 280) to back of kneepads to adhere to tank

pookybear, headtube. Thanks guys. After I posted I saw the several “Similar Threads” at the bottom of the page. I have to remember to use the search function.
There does seem to be a consensus on the GE280 silicone.

Dave,

The search function, odd I thought that broke years ago.

On the note of GE280 I have never used it so I have no input,
sorry.

This summer I put a set of pads from a '66 on my '76 tank. Tank has a vintage paint scheme. Local dealer said to use contact cement. I thought I'd try something close. I used spray adhesive. I got this for gluing foam together, but it seemed very similar to contact cement. Lined the pads up on the tank and made some locator points using tape. Just sprayed the back of the pads, waited for the adhesive to get tacky and then put them on the tank. Cleaned up any adhesive that squeezed out with alcohol. Still looks good after a couple of months. Here's a pic. The link will just take you to the pic in another post. http://www.triumphrat.net/attachment...s-mvc-311x.jpg
