Press in exhaust pipes on 72 T120R

At two weeks old my bike is still very new to me. I'm discovering many things about it as I explore the various parts and functions. One of the things that I scratch my head about is why Triumph decided to make an exhaust port that had press in pipes? Dumb idea!?

I discovered this by listening to the left side exhaust when I heard an exhaust leak. So I took it apart.

Question: since the pipe is loose and requires a tight fit, what do I use to stop the leak or create a leak-less seal where there should be a spigot? Gasket goo?

Thanks in advance.

Hight temp RTV (the red stuff) will seal the joint. A liberal application followed by the collar being installed tight up should do the trick. RR
