cotter pin

hi, stupid question, owned t140 for a long time ,changed the kickstart and am now sh***ing up cotter pins every third or fourth time out,, can anyone tell me the right way to put them in,much appreciated. as they say "ride it dont hide it",rob

The cotter pin nut and washer should face upwards (forwards).
Make sure the flats are aligned, knock it with a hammer...its tapered.

Just to add to Caulky's good post...

After a few kicks, if the kickstart lever/pedal is loose on the shaft (you can tell by trying to move it forward), then bring it forward all the way, and give the cotter pin a few more taps with the hammer from the rear, and re-tighten the nut.
