I 've noticed just in the few miles (10 miles ?) since I changed the plugs that the right pipe is getting a lot darker in color than the left which hasn't really changed ( a golden brown ) since I got it. I put new plugs in but haven't timed it, set the valves, or tuned the carbs. since I bought it. (maybe 50 miles) The left plug was carboned up while the right was brown and looked ok. Is the blueing pipe running hotter? Is this a problem?

I would guess the blued one is running too rich. I would adjust carb. You wil get some more detailed advice I'm sure. This site has some real pro's. Luck

I would suggest timing on that cylinder is too retarded. Have you got points? or electronic? When the timing is retarded, the mixture is still burning when it enters the pipe causing the additional heat.
On the other hand, that cylinder could be running WEAK, or/and an air leak this would also cause your problem. Roy

Time the engine. It's a critical thing and not hard to do. Each set of points is set individually on the T140, for both gap and timing. Set the gaps first, and then set the timing. You can use a timing light on your model to get it exact. Just be sure to check it with the engine RPM above 2500 so the points plate is fully advanced. Follow the instructions in your service manual.
