Hey All,

Update on the 79 t140e...
So I got some new rubber on the wheels and it's now all registered and insured, but it's blowing quite a bit of white smoke out of the left exhaust and also from the left exhaust header where it meets the cylinder. Cleaned out the whole system with some techron which sat in there over the week. Now refilled the tank and all that should be out of there by now, however the smoke still remains. I havent really ridden it much yet, I was hoping it would subside after putting a few miles on there (maybe wishful thinking).

Changed the gearbox oil with hypoid 90(I think successfully, neutral finding has become much much easier, though my neutral light still isn't coming on), but wasn't sure what was the drain plug for changing the engine oil, tried a few different ones there but not or any of it seemed to drain out when I looked into the oil in frame, seemed to still be almost full up there.... seems like I now keep getting oil in the sump (maybe the cause of all the smoke?) after I drained out oil from a couple different places under the bike.

Do I need to remove that sump plate on the bottom to do a full oil change? I'm waiting on the manual in the mail, so any help would be really great, tips for basic oil in frame oil change. It looks like the oil pump is working properly when I look in and the engine is running.
Bike seems to be idling well, and riding fine but the plume of smoke worries me, also was shooting a bit of oil out of the top of the header pipe on the left side, which it wasn't really doing when I was riding it a bit earlier in the week - only started getting worse after draining some oil out from different places under the bike, hopefully there is a simple fix.
havent synced the carbs yet, will do that tomorrow (hopefully will help) any suggestions or ideas you might have as to why I keep having oil in the sump (drained it from there twice today) and why I might be having all this smoke coming from the left exhaust.

As always, much thanks.

Hopefully it's only wet-sumping too much oil into the crankcase.

Do a total system dump of the crankcase, frame sump plate, and primary chaincase. Then, re-fill the oil per the book and see what happens.Best to take it out for a good long ride over an our, THEN see what it's doing.
