Hi Guys,
I've just registered on here.

First off i might be in the wrong section of the forum! My little project is a narrowcase single cylinder ducati with a triumph unit engine (350 or 500) Which is a period conversion. Did any ever get done in the US?
Are there many UK users on here? I cant find any triumph motorcycle forums in the UK!

Welcome aboard - sounds like a fun project, hopefully we get to see pictures of it.

I will move your post into our classics section, as I think there is more chance someone will know about it there.

There are lots of UK folks here - feel free to browse around the forum and check out what's happening!

Hi atreyu I can see this being "a never ending story"
welcome to TR
I'm from the north east and there are a few guys on here from the UK
namely "darn-sowf" and a good few xpats.
the first couple of digits from your engine number should give you the cc of the motor.
As said by Prop a few pics will be nice.

Hi atreyu,
I see Plewsy has already beaten me to it with the never ending story jokes!
Welcome to the forum, I'm one of those ex pats that was thrown out of the UK years ago!

As already mentioned, a few pics of your bike would be nice.

Thanks guys, I got abit confused with the triple and twins section, anyway I know where to be now! Im in Yorkshire by the way.

The main thing I'm short of is the engine! That was the main reason for finding a forum and to get help with getting it going. Apart from ebay which has a few coming up now and again where could I source a unit engine? My other halfs dad has a '78 750 Tiger, but apart from that I've zero knowledge of these engines. Is the 350 and 500 essentially the same? At the moment I'll consider whichever comes along unless someone persuades me one is better than the other. In the Ducati frame it will be quite a light bike, so the difference in displacement isn’t everything. What about tuning/fancy parts. The main firm Ive found for spares in the UK is supreme motrcycles but they seem to only stock parts for rebuilding?

I'll get some pictures up when the project gets more underway, and the moment its just a bare frame, I dont even have swinging arm yet but I'll be picking one up in two weeks! I race a single cyl Ducati and basically this is putting parts off the floor together into a bike, Seemed a good idea so we will see!

Welcome!

I'm not intimately familiar with the design of the frame but just assume you should stick to the power output of the 350 to avoid over-stressing it. It's certainly not like the 500 is amazingly higher power than the 350, but enough to possibly overpower the Ducky frame.

There are engines for sale that cross this forum from time to time, but e-bay should have them on a regular basis.
