I'm just guessing here but driving your bike 100 yards is not going to undo any excess heat transfer to the carbs.
All the same, the carbs should be insulated from the engine as much as possible. Unfortunately, both of the Triumph methods are to my mind inferior and i have tried both. The thick O ring while it isolates the carb with the air gap, it leads to premature warpage as the carbs vibrate back and forth with the engine that only increases as the face begins to deform from the constant compression pressure. Part of the problem is that the carbs are made of soft pot metal. The gasket and thin O ring simply do not provide enough heat shielding and the gasket material again is too easily compressible leading to deformation.
On the other hand, Norton engines shake and dance all over the place and yet the carbs are securely held and are better isolated with a very thick but hard gasket material. (I forget the name of the material) Same carbs by the way. Guess what I have switched over to.
