My old Triumph

G'day

Thought I would post a picture of my Old girl. It's a 1927 500cc Model N Triumph. Its missing a few bits and the petrol tank is off a 1926 model P.
I ride it around the neighbourhood every week as it is and have no intention of restoring it.
I recently found an original rear guard and would be interested in hereing from anyone with a 1927 tank, a front guard or a maggy chain cover.

Cheers.

AWESOME!

We don't get many "veteran" / true antique Triumph riding through these parts, mostly 60s and 70s.

Welcome to you, Shaydan, and feel free to add another post in the "members photo" section at the top of the forum, and add more details and info about that gorgeous survivor.

P.S. you might take a moment to add just a bit of general info to your user profile as well, I assume from your greeting you are from the bottom end of the globe...

P.P.S.S. I was wondering if your globes down there are actually the other way 'round, you know, "right side up" ??

Didn't your oil drip pad come from Brisbane?

Superb machine in original "oily rag" condition ( the best condition). Nice to see a Coventry built machine on the forum. Far too rare. I have a 1928 "Model N deluxe" which is not for some strange reason, the deluxe version of the Model N but its successor with new fangled Saddle tank rather than the flat tank on yours. Otherwise though, pretty much the same.
The following website may be of interest www.veterantriumph.co.uk - they specialise in parts for 1927 Triumphs and earlier (right back to 1903)

Ah a hand change Vintage rider. My father had a Model P. His had the asbestos rope front brake! Utterly useless. He now has a 1930 Model NSD. Theres pics of it somewhere in my albums. I'm assuming your bike has a brass lever for the throttle and not a twist grip. These old bikes take some getting used to don't they? But once you do, 40mph is as much a blast as 140 on a sport bike. Happy riding.

As for parts you might struggle. Over here we have the Vintage Motorcycle Club which can be a good starting point. Here's a link to their page.

Dunno what the oz equivalent is.

pookybear said it well.

I do think a more vintage oil catch pan would be in order, though.
