breather t-piece location- 71 oif

Hi, moving on today from gearbox fun, I decided to try and correctly route the breather system. The parts book and manual are not much help here. Has anyone any pics handy of a correctly mounted t-piece, etc ? Mine had harden hose down beside the frame and no t-piece

cheers

Hi Derek,

Yeah, I would like to try and find out where the breather hoses go on a 1982 T140E OIF as well.

The Parts and Repair Manual have very little (if any) info. In my case I am trying to work out where the crankcase breather hose connects; ie the hose runs from the crankcase/primary and connects where?

Thanks for any assistance.

Of what you want, and I'll send you the same photos of mine - or I'll pop around to your shop and show you...

not entirely sure. I have a t-piece, some 1" hose, some narrow hose for the upper frame breather and the d-section clipped to the rear guard. I imagine that maybe the d-section is cut too short, but it all depends on where the t-piece is meant to go.

Hi Delrazor,

I've not quite figured mine out either, the T piece joins all the breathers together, the D section from the rear mudguard (fender), the large bore pipe from the back of the crankcases and the small pipe from the oil tank (frame upper tube). I have cut all my hoses longer than they need to be and I'm guessing that they should all hook up behind the L/H side panel but as you say the manual is no use, I've even tried looking at the photos in the Haynes manual and they're no use either. I figure this is one for Plewsy as he seems to be one of the few guys out there with an original 71/72.

Hi all,
I have the same 1" pipe from the primary and it runs along the chain guard,
then heads up over mudgaurd (fender) at the frame diagonal then all the way over to number plate.
The smaller breather from top tube runs under tank and drops down inside the battery box bit
where it joins the main breather (with tee) which is just above the front chain guard bolt.

There is also small hole in the motor just above drive chain,
this was for a chain lubricator pipe, which is another tee from the main 1" pipe just above it.
I do not have this bit connected.

Thanks Plewsy,

Now I know to what length I need to trim my hoses
