1969 TR6R Total Restoration

Greetings All, I joined the Forum a few months ago and posted a few questions about the 69 TR6R I purchased and am now in the midst of restoring. I have the bike completely torn down, every part/piece removed, Engine sitting on the lift. I have a few important questions that I know can only be answered by members of this forum.
1. I want to have the engine completely gone through, cases broke, sludge pot cleaned etc. Replace any worn parts etc. When I had it running the top end was extremely noisy so that will for sure need attention.

2. Probably most important, I do not have the expertise to do a rebuild of this magnitude. Does anyone know anyone who can do this in Texas. I did contact one person and he wanted $2500.00 which I thought was a bit excesive?? If you do pls contact me and provide contact info-- it will be appreciated.

3. Where to buy parts. I made a very serious mistake and ordered some parts from a supplier up in Chicago. I ordered a couple of things from EBAY and they arrived with no problems. I then called this guy (Colin) and made two orders for over $500 and I still have not yet received everything I ordered--This all started in May of this year. Sorry to get off subject but any part suppliers to order the internal engine components should I have to would also be appreciated.

4. I have most of the metal already sand blasted, small dents removed, bondo'd and primered ready for painting. I have decided to paint the entire bike the same color-- probably a deep plumb/red/burgundy??

I will post picts when completed or start when I start assembling, but first have to get the engine gone through. I really would like to stay in Texas to get this done so anyone know anyone who is willing and up to the task please contact me.

Really enjoy the forum, seen some of the video's from "Plesky" and they were really impressive, some really good pointers there.

my contact info is devildog669@suddenlink.net. Tks Semper fi rod

$2,500 for an engine overhaul is not at all out of line. However, for that amount, you should have a very-near new engine with shiny polished covers, all new wear parts, reworked head & crank, and a warranty of some sort.

Too late on the Chicago parts issues, but I can help you going forward, as can others who typically suggest the same WELL-KNOWN AND REPUTED parts resellers. Support the forum by supporting the paid advertisers.

As far as cosmetics, the only advice you'll typically get from me always leans to originality. I'm just funny that way.

W'ere all waiting for your official project thread with photos to start up...
