I've just recently replaced my rear MC. As I understood the Lockheed instructions, that adjustment is made independent of the MC itself, as the adjustment is between the back face of the nut and the end of the bracket. I set mine before screwing the MC into the bracket. Or, if done with the MC installed in the bracket, if the MC was adjusted properly to make sure the bleed hole isn't covered, the play will have just barely been taken out of the rod. So, yup, only a ~.360 stroke. My new stainless MC is one of the 13mm bore variety, so that makes for VERY little volume of fluid being moved. Which (among other things) contributes to making bleeding it a fairly significant PITA. But, now that mine has all the air out, the rear brake works really well! I can skid the rear tire at will. Combined with new EBC pads front and rear, I think it probably stops better now than it did when new.
