On those generator models, the lighting is never great. It's a 6-volt system and the generator only puts out decent voltage when it's at higher RPM. However, with a well-charged battery, the lights should stay lit pretty acceptably even when idling. As the battery gets weak, the lights will dim significantly when idling ... my friend's '58 often has a weak battery and his lights will go completely out at a traffic light until he revs the engine ...
check / charge / replace if necessary ... your battery. If not your battery, check output of generator. Full instructions are given in the factory manual. If beyond your scope, find a shop locally who has experience with vintage Triumphs ... NOT A NEW TRIUMPH DEALER!!!!
