Zbundy,

Ok, which bike would help? 6 volt or 12 volt? Type of charging
system?

The only way to get a brighter light is running more wattage,
some bikes can not handle that. A sealed beam will remain
brighter longer as the reflector does not get dull with time so
that is a possible up grade as well.

I have had several Brit-bikes from the 60's ,all 12 volt. I ran a standard 7inch sealed beam. The local auto stores should stock them. But, you may run into a problem with the standard socket. If I remember right, I used one, and had to bend a few tabs on the toggle switch, stuffin all that stuff into the headlamp shell. The bike I have now, I rewired everything and soldered the wires to the sealed beam. To me, it's no big deal to desolder to replace, which I just did a few weeks ago.

you can use a 6014 std or 6024 sealed beam halegon bulb these will go into your headlight ring with no problem. however these bulbs are an automotive bulb and probably not survive for a long period of time due to vibration but they are relatively low cost. a better choice would be a 6015 bulb which is a heavier duty bulb that was used in trucks. The best choice is would be to go to a Jap Bike dealer and get a motorcycle sealed beam. the example I have used for years is the bulb from a Yamaha XS650 from say 77 thru 81. all these bulbs are 12volt and have a standard 3 prong connection. Any auto parts will be able to sell a replacement 3 wire pigtail to plug on the lamp. put a bullet connector on each wire and you can plug into your factory loom. course you have to take out the factory bulb holder.
