Oil leak when engine is idling

Hi all,

I have a small leak that is dripping from the chaincase. When it is idling the leak gets worse. I am assuming if this leak is due needing new engine gaskets. Can anyone confirm.

This is for a 69 T120R

Thanks for your help!

Hi sangalfie,
It could be the gasket, you may get away with nipping all the screws,
crack them all off first then tighten in a, every other one sequence starting center bottom.

Heres me making and fitting the gasket.

It could also be the seal behind the clutch.
If its only a hanging drip don't worry about it

Where exactly is it leaking from? The reason I ask is there is usually an engine breather directed at the gearbox sprocket to lubricate the chain. If the bike is on the propstand, more oil than usual will flow from it and run down the rear face of teh primary chaincase.
Also in case you use the centre stand, does it leak more when you first start it up, or after a ride? It may just be a bit of wet sumping if at startup.

The leak usually comes from start up. I've been trying to get this bike in running condition, and after a tickover of 2-4 minutes i'll kill the engine to see where this leak is coming from. I've noticed though that there is oil on my left cylinder as well...
