T140 REar Master Cylinder Removal
Trying to get the rear m.c. off my '76 Bonneville.
Edited the post to share the knowledge gained.
Took the nut off the brake actuator lever as well as the 3 nuts holding the m.c. to the frame bracket.
The brake actuator lever would not come off of the brake pedal shaft, even with the Wonderbar prying on it. Wondered if it's pressed on.
The brake pedal, even though it has a nut that appears to hold it on the shaft, appears to be pressed onto the shaft, so there is no pushing the shaft into the frame to free the m.c. from its bolts, or the one bolt that is trapped by the swingarm tube.
Someone mentioned removing the footpeg, and that is not helpful or possible because the brake pedal doesn't come off the shaft.
Hope that this helps the next person.
Sooo, put the wrecking lever on the brake pedal and pop, out comes the brake pedal shaft, spring and spacer, so apparently the actuator lever was not pressed on, just a really snug fit.
The bottom line is that the brake pedal may need to be pryed on to pop the actuator lever off the shaft, and then the m.c. will come right off.
And do not bother taking off the right footpeg; it's difficult to do and of no use, unless you're just in it for the excercise and practice of some of the lesser used parts of the language.
Hope that this helps the next person.
