Swinging fork bush/sleeve wear?

I am working on my 1970 TR6R and need help evaluating the swinging fork bush/sleeve condition. This is the assembly drawing:

Since the '70 has the same general setup as the OIF models, I've read both the 1970 and 1979 shop manuals. They don't give any practical advice for evaluating the condition of the bushings or the sleeves. The 1979 manual just refers me to the dimensions, which are spec'd in ten thousandths of an inch... beyond my reach. I've also searched this site and come up empty-handed.

Is there a practical, shade-tree, rule-of-thumb way to tell whether my swinging arm bushings/sleeves need replacement?

Thanks for reading!

If the swing arm bolt is tight, Grab the rear wheel and try to move it from side to side. If there is no play, the bushings and sleeves are Ok. My '68' had some play and I was able to fix it by just replacing the sleeves. Changing the bushings is a bit more work.

If it's in good condition, make sure to keep it well greased.....there's a fitting on the bottom center of it.

Mine's still tight after almost 40 years: Jim
