Tr25w

Hi everybody, I have just bought a 1969 250 . Matching numbers are TR25W C5840 I'm guessing this makes it a '69 because of the "C" prefix also it has the longer silencer on the starboard side and twin leading shoe front brakes. Anyway back to my point I can't seem to find anyone who has a good word to say about these bikes. Before I start another expensive refit ( I have a 1966 T100C almost completed now) I would like to get some feedback. I have read about the lubrication problem the TR25W had with the bottom end but I understand that can be rectified with some machining. It's a lovely little bike , a thumper. Anyone have any experience of these? Best Regards All round Mango

Really a BSA B25 with a Triumph badge. Built at Small Heath (BSA factory) and a development of the BSA C15. C15 had been around a long time and tended to get thrashed by youngsters and no maintenance. Result - big end/main bearing failure. By B25, the bottom end had been improved but still needed regular oil changes. Not aware of any mod. Makes a nice, easy to ride classic if you do not expect too much. After years of neglect by enthusiasts, starting to become collectable in UK and prices rising. Parts special to this model may be problem. BSA specialists better source than Triumph parts suppliers.

Currently restoring a 71 TR25T Trail - anyone know where I can get the silencer for this? Large black box type silencer with outlet at top near top of mudguard. Unique to Triumph TR25SS, TR25T, BSA B25T and B25SS.
Thanks

The silencer is made up of about six pieces each with its own part number. However the only time have seen one, along time ago, it was assembled as one piece so I am not sure individual part nos will help but I will dig them out and post.
The silencer is very distinctive as it is a large, black, diamond shaped box with an inlet on the bottom right and a tail piece top left. The heat shield is also black but with large, chrome-edge holes. I will get a photo and post this also.

Thanks for all your help. I can get most parts for the TR25 in the UK. It is the silencer I have been unable to track down. As most TR25SS and TR25T (inc BSA) went to the US, it is in the US that I expect (hope?) to find the silencer. Any ideas who might still have stock of old parts/NOS. As far as I am aware, this silencer has never been remanufactured so I need to find one that has been on a shelf somewhere for 35+yrs.

Thanks Dave M
Burton Bike Bits have had some B50 silencers made plus a sleeve to make it suitable for the TR25/B25 (smaller inlet pipe diam).
Have just ordered the parts from them.
Thanks once again.
