About time! My Bonnie OIF gets an oil change (VIDEO)

The past few days I have been up to my eyes in carburetors the ones I use have been very rich for a long time I have tried all sorts to get them leaner to no avail. My mate gave me a set of carbs which are a few years older than my own so I did a strip down on them and flatted all the surfaces poked all the jets fitted them and............they where rubbish.
So I fitted the originals back on, as they have been so rich I have done an oil change because of the petrol flush I expect has happened. Removing the top hat filter I found a crack had opened up at the top of it, so out came the solder and a repair was done to it, I will replace it as soon as I get one. Any way heres the Oil change (it only took me two days ).

the video. But what about the Primary? Or is your's seperate
from the engine oil?

I always change that at the same time.

Hi pookybear, my ten minutes was up so I did not have time to put it in, I did do it though (honest) I am intending to do a clutch strip down over the next few weeks so I will do a primary side vid and include it then.
As my primary chain case drain plug is cracked , I usually remove the casing altogether to drain and do adjustments.

Hi Plewsy,

No worries mate, it's lying in my box of spares never to be used again.
If you want to convert to the t140 paper filter there's no going back. You will need to cut off the oil scavenge (I think) pipe on the R/H lower side of the main frame tube and blank off the hole. The pipe is replaced by a union on the new sump plate.

Do You? I didn't. Or am I talking about a different kit?

Mine was a "Charlie's" that uses a B25 (I think ) filter up in the sump.

Hi DAVE M
If you have used that filter The standard pick up pipe in the tank could not be used, so would have to be capped off, as Webby says the new pickup is on the new base plate.

Interesting.

Mine's a 79 and the original sump is identical so they must have changed it at some point. Mine was a straight swap.
