Anyone know where to purchase a 1940's / 1950's frame?

Hey guys!

I wanted to post in the classifieds, but i dont have permissions for that yet it seems. Checked the forum search tool, and didnt see anything in the way of this..
I'm looking for a pre unit 1947 triumph tiger100 frame. The one i currently have has been chopped up by some previous owner, and has some 'unsafe' lookin spots.
Now.. i know i have a reckless side to me, but goin out on a crappy frame isnt my style.. id rather ride it off a wicked cliff or somethin :P (j/k)
A lot of what i see on Ebay has the same issue, the yolk being mutilated, and not fit to ride.. even tho the sellers say theres nothing wrong with it
Thanks for your input guys

-kenny

Rigid Triumph frames are getting pretty rare ... we're talking about a frame for a motorcycle over 60 years old now ... anyway, it may be worth repairing the frame. My best friend could definitely photograph and measure whatever you needed so that you could have the repair / fab work done.

i got a reply from a guy online who asked if a '75 TR7 would work. I checked pictures online, and doubt it would but asked for photos anyway, to compare the holes for mounting.

in regards to having it repaired... any machinist in town should be able to handle that would you assume? is it better to ship it somewhere (im in calgary alberta - canada) in western canada?

Thanks guys

*** EDIT - i should mention, as well, that im fully open to having a frame refabricated - not original - as long as it is built to spec. does anyone know of a company who does this by chance?

$500 for a rough pre-unit frame sounds a bit steep. however, I haven't been following prices on that specific commodity, so I am personally uninformed first-hand.

frame question

heh.. me again..
Thanks for the reply there GrandPaulz,

i wonder if anyone can answer a question regarding the yolk of these frames. it seems like a lot of the bobber folk are chopping the top off the yolk. i was wondering why they do this and what it accomplishes?

to my understanding it makes the frame less stable for riding. when i look up a website (below) for a frame, it shows the same 'chop' off the top.

http://www.britcycle.com/Products/customframe.htm

if you see the picture i left below of the trophy frame, it has the top 'upside down bell' shape that has been cut off my frame, and the one on this website..

any thoughts?

thanks guys,
