68 Bonnie: Oil tank feed lines

I saw a similar thread on this that didnt have a definative answer. Can't find the thread now that I just went down and took a picture of the tank! So, sorry, Ill have to duplicate the question:

How are the hoses routed to/from the oil tank?

The large diameter pipe feed on the left of the picture I believe goes to the long crankcase breather hose.

The small diameter pipe feed on the right of the picture i believe goes to the chain lube pipe. Most ppl i understand dont use this and just tighten down the feed screw in the tank.

The two feed pipes at bottom of tank go to the oil pump.

Is this all correct?

Other questions:
1. Where is the rocker feed pipe attached to?
2. Parts lists a "T" piece hooked to the small rear chain lube pipe. Whats that for?
3. There is a little oil feed nippled on bottom of oil tank. What is that for?

I wish the parts lists could have seperate digrams of this stuff hooked up. It'd make it a lot easier!

The little feed on the bottom of the tank is the one that goes to the rocker boxes. It is in the return circuit from the oil pump. Make sure you get the oil lines from the pump on right or you won't have any oil pressure. The little spigot on the right of the picture is the chain oiler but it has no "tee" in it. The "tee" is in the main breather line. The large spigot on the left of the picture comes from the foam tower of the oil tank and is connected to the "tee" with about a 4"-5" piece of hose. The breather tube from the bottom of the engine comes up to the "tee" along the big vertical frame tube. From the "tee" there is another hose that goes along the left top frame to the rear fender and exits at the bottom of the rear fender. There is a picture showing the "Tee" in my Triumph shop manual on Page E5 under SECTION E4 Removing and Replacing the Oil Tank.

OK, that makes more sense. The parts book i have for the 68 has those pipes coming off the other side of the tank and the "T" looks the wrong way round.

Im looking at page E5 of workshop manual and it makes more sense.

So, the oil chain spigot--if you dont use it dyou just leave it as it it or plug it with a vacuum plug or something?

Thanks!

I ran the hose down to the fitting on the swingarm. It is turned off inside the oil tank so the hose is just there for appearance. If you're not going to use it, a plug or cover to keep the dirt out should be all you need.
