My cylinder Barrel is stuck, and nothing I've tried seems to be working. I have triple checked that all 8 base bolts are unscrewed. I have been hitting it with a 16oz rubber mallet for the better part of an hour (off and on) I've tried heating the base with a torch. And ive got a steady flow of PB Blaster going on the seal. The pistons are not seized. Any tips other than keep swinging, heating, and spraying?

When I took mine apart I took off all the nuts then loosly threaded on one nut. Then I stacked another nut on top of it without threading it on the stud. Then back off the bottom nut and it will push the top nut into the cylinders and break the seal. Hopefully you understand what I am saying.

I see exactly what your saying jseevers. thats a great idea that I probably never would have come up with on my own. I really hope I'm not missing two bolts some where. I'm following the haynes workshop manual almost religiously, and I've checked numerous times for any bolts that seem obvious. Are all ten of yours around the base of the cylinder?

Thanks for the advice

There are 8 nuts on the base of the barrels. The reference to 10 nuts relates to the cylinder head.

Try tyre levers to lift the barrels with the pistons half way up on the stroke. Use the flange bolts as a fulcrum but make sure you screw nuts on to the bolts - just a few threads will do- to avoid damage to the threads. Not too much pressure on the levers but work your way around the barrels. If still stuck the apply release oil to each flange bolt and leave for 24 hrs be for trying the levers again.

Using the nuts on the flange bolts to "jack" the barrels off will certainly work but make sure you use at least 4 jack points and apply pressure slowly and evenly turning each nut in sequence a quarter turn at a time.
