Dumb battery tender question

I know this is probably a dumb question, but, I just bought a battery tender to keep my battery healthy, since my motorcycle is positive ground that means that I have to hook the positive on the tender to the negative on the battery and the negative on the tender to the positive on the battery, correct?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

+ is Positive, - is Negative

What tnsen said...

But I would not wire in the plug-n-play "adapter." As it is a "reverse" grounding system oth the old Triumphs, if you leave the USA adapter cap off you may melt down your wiring harness if the exposed - lead hits the chassy +, since the USA is reverse of old Brit (Positive) ground side.

+ is +, and - is -, where ever it comes from and how.

Use the Battery Jumper Clip Ons, if it is you got a Battery Tender Junior or the like. Or you may want to cut and rewire your Tender for a safer long term isolated solition if you desire to wire in the adapter perm. But judging from your original question, you probably shoudn't do that...

I finally found a battery maintainer that had a cover on the pigtail. One with the uncovered connector is fine for a negative ground bike as the exposed part of the connector is not hot. However, on our positive ground bikes, the negative battery post is hot. Make sure that you sufficiently cover the battery tender pigtail connector so you don't have a melt-down.

Matt,

Sell the battery tender, that will make you ride your motorcycle
every day to keep the battery charged up. A very good trade
off I think.

Angry Re: Waltz & t100rc

Lol! Yeah I found that out the hard way. Luckily I only got a 1st degree burn and it didn't mess up any of my other wiring. Where were you guys when I needed you? Lol jk!
