a few issues i need help with.

OK one, i just put a new clutch in my 140v motor. And it seems to be slipping? Sometimes when i kick the bike over the kicker dont grab anything also. And my pipes dont like to stay in all the way, they come out about half of an inch.

I'm no clutch expert but someone who is may need more info.

1. What oil do use in the primary?

2. Can you tell us where the pressure springs are tensioned to? (are the adjustment nuts level with the end of the rods for instance)

3. When you disengage the clutch, is there the usual pressure at the clutch handle?

4. When diengaging the clutch, can you see that the pressure plate is lifting off the driven plate evenly and to a measureable distance by the eye?

Answers to these questions may help you get to the root of the problem.

With the shared primary oil, you need to keep it really clean.

make sure your clutch pressure plate spring adjusters are turned in as mentioned, but I believe the bolt ends should just be visible one full thread in the slot on the head.

You need to slacken the cable off to 1/8" free play at the lever, then unlock the pushrod adjuster nut; loosen the center grub screw, then turn it in till it just makes contace, and back out 1/4 turn. Snug the nut back down with a socket with your fingers, while holding the grub srew in position with a screwdriver through the socket; once it snugs up, lock it down.

Should be good to go.

When you serviced the oil level in the primary after installing the clutch, you shouldn't have poured in more than 1/4 cup. If you did, you might need to pull the plates back out and wash them thoroughly, let them dry in the sun, and start over.

thanks. I did not do the clutch change. I had everything done by someone else. But i do want to do everything myself now. I thought these bikes shared the oil, the same oil your engine uses to lube itself is the same for the clutch?? Is there a right up somewhere on doing a clutch swap?

Yes, the primary and crankcase do share the oil, but you need to "prime" the primary with 1/4 cup of oil so it doesn't start out running dry.

Try doing a search, I'm sure I've seen more than one clutch change-out. When you find a good one, let me know and I'll add it to the "sticky" tech thread.

l have exactly the same thing happens on my 7 plate clutch on a T100. Only when l start ,first thing. Once its warm its okay. So l just work the clutch a few times and its ok. l figure its just caused by the plates contracting after a long run and as long as it does not get worse l leave alone. You do look a idiot and always move the footpegs out of the way before l skin my ankle.
