Need an Expert Mechanic in Texas

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic In Texas that knows the 650 twin. I have a 69 Boniville, that was completly restored. I am haveing trouble with the motor overheating, starts fine and runs strong for about 3 minuets then starts smoking very bad.
I live in central Texas but can haul the bike to the shop, any good mechanics in my area?

I'm in Laredo (south end of I-35), and I've been doing this for a while.

Sounds like your cylinder bores were honed a bit too tight and/or your ring end gaps are too tight. You should have had .0045 - .005 clearance on the skirts.

Also, are you sure you got the two main oil lines right way 'round on the bottom oil manifold?

Don't run it any more, you might still be able to salvage the pistons & rings.

grandpaulz@hotmail.com if you want to talk about it.

If you're going north instead of toward GPZ, http://www.bigdcycle.com in Dallas, I assume Keith Martin is still around to call, but I have not been over there in a while.

Yes, Big "D" is still a great outfit for Meriden Triumphs and many other classic & vintage bikes.
