Hi Joe
I'm embarrssed that I never replied to the e-mail you sent me with this same picture. You bike looks great. The 67-68 style pipes look so much better than the later style with the larger mufflers "H"pipe and that awful "cage". (IMO)

1969 T100R Daytona

I let someone else do the hard work for once and bought it in this condition. Keeping up with the maintenance though I think I'll have touched every part of it before long!

Wow, mighty fine Daytona. I like the dark Emerald Green, kinda like my 2000 Legend.

Sorry to be so late but...

I am looking at a basket '70 T100C and the seller said it should have the high pipes like this. But you say you have '68 pipes..are the pipes in the correct location and are just off a different year, or are they the wrong pipes altogether?

Thanks

Hi Mark,

The "correct" pipes for the 1970 T100C were indeed high pipes, located on the same side (left) of the bike. The difference is the 1970 pipes had a crossover pipe just before the mufflers, ending at the same length. Mufflers are parallel and end tips are even in length. They also had a significant heat shield system that was often referred to as "the bird cage".

The earlier model pipes (like mine) staggered length at the rear with no crossover. The mufflers are also smaller in diameter and shorter in overall length. As you can see in the picture, the older version are also staggered in end length.

That makes sense, thanks JTT

Hi, pic of my 5TA made to look like T100. Unmodified low compression engine runs sweet and makes an ideal ride for a Sunday morning burn around the country lanes. Does run out of revs though on the fast straight bits so might fit a 43 tooth rear sprocket in place of the standard 46 to give it longer legs.

This one's not mine ... I've been working at a local shop for a while now and this was a partial restoration job we just did for the original owner of this '69 T100C. We did a lot to it, we just didn't go 'all out' ... Enjoy!

This was a very early '69 ... one of the first 300 or so and actually has a full-width single leading shoe front brake (correctly!) instead of the 2LS they went to during the '69 model year. (starting after the first 500 or so were built)

We'll miss this one once the owner comes and gets it ...
