Riding boots

I used to wear an old pair of very comfortable, steel toe work boots when I ride, but lately I've been thinking about a pair of sport bike riding boots. But I worry about their comfort level on and off the bike (I often ride the bike to work and wondered how comfortable boots would be when NOT on the bike). Most decently reviewed boots are well above $200, and I'd hate to spend $$ to buy something online and have it turn out to be either uncomfortable or just plain not fit well. Any recommendations?

I've also seen a company selling "Xelement" riding gear and a great price. The DESCRIPTIONS sound good, but I can't find any reviews anywhere. Anyone know these products?

I had the same concerns when dropping that kind of coin. Picked up some Sidi Strada Evo boots this spring and couldn't be happier. Very comfortable on and off the bike. Actually have worn them all day and they move like a regular walking boot. Two concerns would be that Sidi is a narrow european boot and would be quite tight if you have sasquatch feet. Second, the boots are waterproof, which means your feet stay dry, but warm. If you don't like warm feet, get something with vents.

Overall, I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

If you can't try them on locally, consider using Dennis Kirk or Kneedragers. They have a very good selection and a nice return policy.

Riding Boots

Check out the TourMaster Response SC Road Boot. I found them at Bike Bandit for a bit more than $100 which I though was a good price for a waterproof leather riding boot. They only have whole sizes. I wear anything from a 7 1/2 to a 9 (normal width) depending on the type of shoe. The 8 I ordered was the perfect size, not too loose or tight. I would say though that if you have a foot wider than a "D" width, they may be a bit snug so keep that in mind. I used a regular over the ankle steel toed work boot for a while and it was fine except for the speed lace things catching on my jeans. The TourMasters are cool because the laces are coverd, the lower hight and scoop at the rear of the shoe by the Achilles' tendon make them better for general use. Good luck.

My wife found a pair of BMW (made in Italy) boots at a local BMW dealer. She is really happy with them so far. Leather, with a little Cordura, and Gore-Tex. GT means they'll be a bit warm, but so far she has found them more comfortable than anything she tried.

My favorites are still my lace-up Ariat cowboy work boots. I also like my old (~ 3 years?) Triumph boots. Have worn both all day when commuting, with no discomfort.

Buy some "Daytona" boots...

I have Sidi boots which cost me about 210 US at the Dallas Bike Show about 4 years ago. They are great for riding and good protection but if you want to walk around in them all day too they are not bad but still Motorcycle Boots if you know what I mean.
My old boots are Daytona boots which I bought back in 1992 I still have to this day, I had them resoled and are still as comfortable as they were when I bought them. They are more touring boots than sportbike boots but I like them. I bought them in Austria and there are several kinds. You can check them out online also and should be able to order no problem. Check out www.louis.at This is a motorcycle equipment and apparel warehouse which was started originally in Germany. Now there are shops all over Europe. Anyway... nice shopping to ya!!
