I need to purchase some boots quick (don't have time to order). Local dealer has some Tourmaster waterproof boots in my size. They are the side zipper/velcro european style.

Other than more water resistant, is there and advantage/disadvantage to going with the waterproof?

If I don't get the Tourmaster's, I be wearing hiker type 6 inch boots or some 10 inch "engineer" boots that the heel is really too tall for sporty riding i.e. speed triple

I always tried to avoid waterproof boots because I thought they would make your feet perspire more in warm weather, which we have a lot more of than we have rain in Southern California. However, I ended up buying a pair of Diadora's short waterproof boots and I don't notice any problem with them. The only negative is that to be waterproof they have to have a continuous membrane so there is a web between the two halves of the zipper that you have to be careful not to catch when you zip them up.
