Well gents, I'm in the market for some riding boots and was wondering if anyone here has tried out the Sidi Sport Tepor Boots?
I was thinking about getting a set, but am a bit hesitent about the Velcro closure. for some reason it doesnt sound like the boot would be very secure and easily pulled off in a crash with only velcro and a zipper keeping it on your foot.
Im used to riding with normal lace up work boots.... and thats one reason im considering the sidis.... they look kinda like a normal boot but have some protection inside them for the ankle, heel and toes.
Also, any other boots you would suggest looking into? I want the protection of a race boot, but the look of a normal work boot.

My riding boots are zipper & velcro (stylmartin) , you`d have a tough time pulling them off my feet. I really like the shin armor as well. I`ve been doing a lot of riding in the rain lately and my feet stay dry.The days i ride to work I keep them on all day, there 3 years old now and just starten to show there age. I'm going start looking for new boots soon, and Sidi`s are on the list.
riding boots over work boots any time.
It helps to put in some good supportive insoles if you're going to be on you`re feet for any length of time.
my 2.2cents

I have a set of Oxtar Matrix and they have served well. They are also inner zipper with outer Velcro flap. My riding suit usually covers the outside of my boot down to the ankle, so the flap isn't exposed. I do tend to tuck jeans inside the boots but then I'm always using the stich pants on the outside.

I have the SIDI Strada Evo Tepors, with similar velcro/zipper config. I think it would be quite rare if they came off due to the velcro getting caught, as something would have to catch and grab hold. I like these as well, as they give good protection, yet look pretty street worthy, as long as your pants are over them.

Haven't tried the Sidi Sport Tepor Boots, but I've owned two pairs of Sidis and really like the fit and comfort. My favorite pair is the Sidi Champion Air half boot, perforated. They have a zipper and a Velcro "flap." The only problem is that I occasionally catch the rubberlike membrane in the zipper, which is quite annoying.
You can get a pair for $160 at NewEnough

Sidi Canyon Gortex Boots
I bought the Sidi Canyon Gortex Boots about a month ago and they are as comfortable as they are good looking. I was going to get the Oxtar Matrix boots because they were cheaper but I decided to shoot the lock off the wallet and buy what I really wanted. These boots are very very comfortable and the Velcro closures keep the boot very tight to my calves and ankles. Then I use the ratchet binding to cinch the boot down. I highly recommend these boots and if you buy them get them from NewEnough for the Free S&H!

I'll second the Sidi Strada Evo Tepor Boots choice. I can't imagine the velcro not holding. I also have a pair of the Sidi Typhoon Gore-Tex Boots for more touring rides. Both great boots. Tepor are lighter and easier to shift in sport mode. The Typhoon is just what its name implies. Similar to Hedge's Canyon boots. I feel you can't go wrong with a Sidi boot.
http://www.newenough.com/boots/water...touring_boots/ New Enough has always offered great service. Try them.
By the way, the Tepor aren't the best to walk in. They're okay, but not great. Riding in them is extremely comfortable though!

i wear the sidi onroads - and they are only velco. and when done up right, looped in and out of the guides, this bad boys will not and could not come off in a spill - i know this to be true. as they are my second pair after trashing my first pair this summer in an expected dismount. my feet and ankles survived, the boots okay, still wearable but insurance bought me new shiny ones. so now i have two - my new winter snow boots.
