Flying boots - sheepskin lined?

Hi - when God was a boy I bought a pair of pattern RAF flying boots identical to these at Lewis Leathers . Now those are fine boots but around $600 a pair. Mine were out of a surplus store in 1968 and I had not got much money so they were not Lewis. They were dead warm and comfortable and looked the part too. Check out old Brit rocker movies and nearly all will be wearing them!

Anybody got any idea where I can get a pair - still not got much money! At least I am consistent.

Hi Pat,

Aero Leathers did make the RAF 1936 pattern flying boot. I understand they are currently looking for a new manufacturer in the UK.

Lewis Leathers make an excellent English made version. They were original suppliers of these boots to the RAF in WW2.

Now if you want some cheap copies try What Price Glory. Probably made in India and not an exact copy but quite close and retailing at approx 270 dollars..

Thanks for that - I took a look and the largest size they have is 11 and I take 11.5 or 12. The original boots I had were zippered down the inside as well as the top strap - lots of dubbin waterproofed them. The bike was my only transport so I rode in the wet and melting snow and these kept my feet warm and dry. All the "rockers" wore them too. No way can I afford Lewis Leathers!
