BMW All Around Boot

I went shopping for some all weather boots today. I had a look at the Triumph Highway Boots, Red Wing 988's, Tourmaster Solution WP, Sidi Canyon Boots and the BMW All Around Boots.

Out of the boots that I tried, the ones that seemed to fit my feet (12-E) the best were the Sidi Canyon Boot and the BMW All Around Boot with the edge going to the BMW in comfort and also I really didn't like the annoying ratchet buckle on the Sidi.

So, I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with the BMW All Around Boot they can share. Are they as comfortable as they seem for all around wear? Are they warm enough in winter? Cool enough in summer? As waterproof as they claim?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I really like the look of them. I wonder who makes them for BMW?

From what I was told by the sales folks they are manufactured for BMW by Oxtar/TCX. Looking at the TCX Touring Line I believe that is probably correct.

They are made in Italy and the BMW Allaround boot looks like a hybrid cross between the Explorer 3 Gore Tex and the X-Five Gore Tex to me. Kind of the same styling as the X-Five, but more Cordura in the uppers.

Oxtar was also another boot that was recommended to me for wide feet, so it stands to reason they would be a similar fit.

I've been wearing the BMW all around boot for a little over a year and a half now and I've been very happy with them. With the proper socks they're comfortable in all seasons including the coldest months of winter which I'm getting into here on the East Coast. I've also ridden in the rain with them and my feet have stayed dry. The fit and finish on them are top notch and I see myself getting atleast 2 or 3 more years out of them.

I appreciate the feedback from an owner. They felt great in the store, very comfortable, but of course all but worst boots feel at least reasonably comfortable for 10-15 minutes walking around the store.

Buying boots/shoes is kind of like buying a mattress. They all feel great when you test them, but until you spend some quality time in them it is hard to tell what they are really like.

I hear ya! I've spent hours in them at rallies and when I ride to work on casual Fridays I keep them on all day and they don't bother me one bit.

Thanks again. Glad to hear that you can wear them all day long. I think I will go back and buy them. I really did like the way they felt. Comfortable, light, but look as though they are well made.

I'm extremely happy with my pair. I haven't had the chance to test their performance in wet conditions, but I've worn them in 90*F+ temps as well as sub 50*F temps; as others have said, the right pair of socks makes all the difference. Finding the right pair of boots that fit my less than average wide forefoot and thin heel & ankle is difficult. But swapping in a pair of Superfeet insoles just about perfected the fit for me.

I have to tiptoe my Sprint at stops and I've never had any issues with grip. I've ridden at most 2k miles with them since the beginning of Sept., most of those miles on a 3-day weekend tour down through AR and back. I'd be surprised if I would need to replace them within the next 2 years, my only concern being the durability of the forefoot part of the sole.

Good luck on your purchase and congrats if you've already picked up a pair!
