All of the above... Installed short TORs, rejetted to 125, removed AI, removed top snorkel and replaced with Polaris velocity intake referenced elsewhere on this site, replaced air filter with K&N... All on 08' America... Wow - Really woke the 865 up! No popping on the quick rev, nice mellow burble when downshifting. Well worth the effort and $

I am wondering if there is any way to re-gear a bonneville 790? I have done a uni air filter with new straight pipes and all conversions to make it faster. She seems like she's got allot in her, but shifts quickly and is 5th gear by 45mph, I feel if there is a way to re-gear, I can just ride comfortable at higher speeds than feeling like Im revving it out. Thanks for your help.

This info was sent to me by another member (FattRat) but I'll pass it on for everybody.

How to make your extremely loud and raspy D&D'S quieter.

1) remove the baffle from the can.

2) cut all the original packing off and throw it away.

3) get fiberglass exhaust packing material.

4) pack the baffle looser and use wire to hold the fiberglass in place.

5) replace the baffle in the can.

6) repeat steps for the other baffle.

7) the new tone is more mellow and quieter.... [Read More]

IMG_2889 I installed new handlebars on my 2006 Scrambler for a better riding position and improved comfort at speed. Purchased a set of Bikemaster European chrome bars from azmotorsports.com for $17 US over the web

Here are tips on the installation and pictures

1. Cover the tank and headlight with blankets or towels to protect paint
2. Remove mirrors
3. Remove switchgear, clutch lever, and brake master cylinder from handlebar. Rest master cylinder upright on (protected) headlight

Broken spokes on the Bonneville, T100, and Thruxton spoked wheels have led to concerns about how the wheels were designed. I spent way too much time and money and used the skills I learned in 35 years as a rocket scientist to do a computer simulation of how the wheels actually work, based on test data of real spokes tested in the real wheel geometry. The results, conclusions, and what it means to us riders can be found at:

I think Triumph did a lot of things right on the Scrambler but the speedometer/handlebar clamp combo is a sore spot in my eyes. D9 has been designing and fabricating some incredibly beautiful speedo/tach/ignition mounts using the 2 ¼” diameter mini-gauges but did/does not have a solution for the Scrambler’s speedo pod. I liked the idea of getting rid of the entire pod so the mini-speedometer sold on www.mikesxs.net with the incorporated LED idiot lights was perfect. I used par... [Read More]

It seems that many of us are encountering problems with our side stand switches. Often, we may have to put up with running the risk of either grounding out on the side stand (having jumped the side stand switch at the connector behind the left side panel) or riding around with the neutral light on permanently (after bypassing the neutral switch instead). It’s not always clear where the fault may lie until the circuit is tested, though the chances are the side stand switch itself will be the... [Read More]

A frequently asked question about Bonnevilles/T100s is how can I modify my stock mufflers (silencers)? Here are the instructions for removing the rear baffles, drilling the remaining baffles and rejetting tips. Bill T100 initially gave me the instructions and I have added to them based on my and others experiences.

Tools needed:

1 ¼ “ metal hole saw (choose a good one)
Minimum 8” long ¼” metal drill bit
Preferred: ½ in drive drill

The rear baffle is held in place by a rear flange and an inn... [Read More]
