Preparations for the upcoming season continue. I had a conversation with Andy Johnson of More Power Racing regarding where to put his decals and patches on my leathers. It is an alien concept to me- advertizing on my leathers. It gets me a huge discount on parts and other things I will need, so it is absolutely worth it. A glass shop ordered a new windshield gasket for the van for me, so I can remove the windshield for painting and put it all back together with a good seal. No leaks will be a nice change, too. The bike is going to get sanded down as much as I can this weekend. If there is time, the first coats will go on the lowers. I have to paint the tank, because it is black, with a red and silver "horn"- I don't know what else to call the little bit of graphics Suzuki puts on GSXR gas tanks. It will be yellow once the paint is on. I haven't decided whether to do some kind of break line at the tank's level, or how to deal with the upper part of the bike. The lowers are easy. The tail is easy because it will be solid yellow. The yellow and blue come together somehow on the uppers and on the tank.
The van will get painted plain blue, with yellow bedliner on the roof and blue bedliner on the rocker panels below the chrome trim thing that made it a fancy Beauville back when it was built. It makes a good place to break from one paint type to another now. The reason for bedliner is to seal in surface rust and keep it from turning into a real problem. The yellow roof, aside from being a little like the bike's paint scheme, is to keep the interior just a little cooler in the summer and deal with UV. Apparently yellow does better in intense sunlight than other colors.
The generator should be showing up pretty soon, too. It is also yellow, so there is a theme beginning to emerge here. The old TyrSox I found in my brother's garage are yellow, and the covers for them are blue. The whole color thing is getting a little too neat. My leathers are plain white with scuffs, and my boots and gloves are black, so at least I will look properly awful.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.
